In the major battles around Petersburg, Graham's Battery fought at Second Drewry's Bluff (16 May 1864), First Petersburg (15-18 June), Globe Tavern (18-21 August), Peebles Farm (30 September-1 October) and Burgess Mill (27 October). The infantry of the Petersburg Battalion became the nucleus of the 12th Regiment Virginia Infantry, the Petersburg Regiment. Situated near the treaty line between the English settlers and the Indians, Fort Henry soon became a center of exploration and the Indian trade.
